| Sheri Kotowski, a tireless community organizer with the Embudo Valley Environmental Monitoring Group, recently wrote after the Land Forum they held in Dixon, NM March 28, 2009 on Los Alamos National Lab radio nuclide pollution issues effecting our food, farms and health:
We would also like to thank Cultural Energy. Robin Collier was at the forum doing what he does all the time, recording the event so that many other people can be part of it. Our thanks extends also to Mike Tilley who is the other driving force of Cultural Energy. Cultural Energy continues to take the lead in the very important role of spreading the word of Youth, Arts and Activism through out Northern New Mexico and the World Wide Web with their fearless use of the media. If some of you are not familiar with their website please check it out. Cultural Energy is a vital part of Northern New Mexico.
We will be posting the recording of this important Land Fourm in Dixon and tape from the Land Grant Forum on the US government betrayal of heirs held later in the day in Española soon on this website.

Hit & Run Sentencing Reconsideration Hearing
of Serio Lopez Friday, March 27, 10 a.m.
Update: This was postponed because of snow.
A motion to reconsider the sentencing of Sergio Lopez will be held at the Taos County 8th Judicial District Court on Fr.i, Mar. 27th, at 10 a.m. 24-year-old Lopez committed the crime of a hit and run to a bicyclist, Jennifer (Gwenhyfar) Fowler, on August 13, 2008. Fowler broke both of her legs and neck. Lopez was sentenced to 18 months in prison by Judge Baca from Las Vegas, NM in late December 2008. Questions on the case may be directed to the District Attorney at 758-8683.
Prior to the Dec. sentencing, Fowler had agreed to lessen Lopez's sentence to 18 months from 3 years. According to Fowler, the case was held in Las Vegas, NM because a few Taos judges recused themselves. Fowler has received just a week and a half notice of the hearing and hasn't received communication from the DA's office. Those concerned may attend the hearing on Fri, Mar 27, at 10 a.m.

Update Mar 4 NM Senate Bill 560 the "Farmer Protection Act" to prevent farmers from being sued for GMO contamination still is before the Conservation Committee. The bil was again not heard on Tuesday and Now is scheduled to be heard Thursday Mar 5 at 8 am to consider a substutute bill with all NMDA and NMSU provisions stripped out, but retaining the farmer liability provisions. Update Mar 5 The bill was killed at 5:30 in a 6-1 vote in the Conservation Committee.
