NEWS UPDATE on Green Chile Gov. Richardson signed HB2 Feb 12 with out vetoing funding for the Chile Industry. Senate Bill 60 never left the Senate Finance Committee when the session closed on Feb 14 and no more action on it was taken there. It remains to be seen how this left the matter, as the funding had no specific mention of genetic modification.

Allen Richardson spoke with NMSU researcher Dr. Steve Hanson who claims that they plan to do only conventional breeding of green chile. He agreed to be recorded and we plan a trip to Las Cruces to interview him in the future to get NMSU on record in this regard.
